At just 25.8 pounds without the battery, the Golden Technologies Cricket LT (GP309) is one of the lightest folding power wheelchairs we've ever tested. But after spending time with it around our farm, we quickly realized its biggest advantage isn't just its weight—it's how well everything comes together. It's incredibly easy to transport, surprisingly capable on imperfect terrain, comfortable for everyday use, and loaded with premium features that many competing chairs charge extra for.
Designed for users weighing up to 300 pounds, the Cricket LT features a durable carbon fiber frame, an airline-approved lithium battery, a premium gel seat cushion, and a compact folding design that makes traveling by car, airplane, or cruise ship remarkably easy. After testing nearly every lightweight power wheelchair on the market, we genuinely believe the Cricket LT is one of the best overall values available today.

Unboxing Video Torture Test VideoWhat Makes the Cricket LT Special?
The Cricket LT doesn't rely on flashy technology or complicated features. Instead, Golden Technologies focused on building an exceptionally lightweight chair that simply works. At only 25.8 pounds without the battery, it's easy for many users or caregivers to lift into the trunk of a car without requiring a vehicle lift.
One of our favorite design features is how compact the chair becomes when folded. The handles on the backrest fold completely down, making the overall package noticeably smaller than many competing travel chairs. That extra reduction in height can make a surprising difference when loading the chair into smaller SUVs, crossovers, or sedans.
The Cricket LT also comes well equipped from the factory. Unlike many lightweight power wheelchairs that require expensive upgrades, this model already includes a premium gel seat cushion, cup holder, airline-friendly lithium battery, and carbon fiber frame as standard equipment. When you compare everything that's included, it's easy to see why we consider it one of the strongest values in its class.
Performance & Ride Quality
The Cricket LT officially isn't an off-road power wheelchair, but we wanted to see how it handled beyond smooth indoor flooring. During our testing around the Mobility Direct farm, we drove it across grass, gravel, decorative stone, uneven pavement, and even the threshold entering our garage.
To our surprise, it performed extremely well. While the chair doesn't have a suspension system, the carbon fiber frame appears to provide a slight amount of natural flex that helps absorb vibration over rough surfaces. Combined with the rear-wheel-drive design and large 11-inch rear tires, the ride felt noticeably smoother than many other lightweight travel chairs we've tested.
We still recommend using the Cricket LT primarily on sidewalks, paved paths, shopping centers, airports, cruise ships, and other firm surfaces. However, if you occasionally need to cross grass or gravel, it handles those situations far better than most people would expect.
Comfort & Everyday Usability
The Cricket LT was clearly designed with everyday practicality in mind. The premium gel seat cushion provides excellent comfort for a lightweight travel chair, while the folding backrest helps reduce the chair's overall size during transportation.
One feature we especially appreciate is the armrest design. Unlike many folding power wheelchairs that leave part of the frame sticking up when the armrests are raised, the Cricket LT's armrests move completely out of the way. There isn't a large 90-degree support bracket blocking your path, making side transfers much easier when getting in and out of the chair from a bed, couch, vehicle seat, or another mobility device. It's a small engineering detail that makes a big difference during everyday use.
The chair is intentionally simple. It doesn't include power recline, seat elevation, or advanced positioning features, but that's exactly why it's so lightweight and easy to own.
Technical Details
The Cricket LT uses a 24-volt rear-wheel-drive system controlled by a 35-amp controller, providing smooth acceleration and predictable handling in tight spaces. Automatic electromagnetic brakes engage whenever the joystick is released, helping the chair come to a controlled stop without requiring manual brake operation.
Power comes from a TSA-approved 240-watt-hour lithium battery that provides a manufacturer-rated driving range of up to 9.5 miles per charge under ideal conditions. The battery weighs only about three pounds and can be removed before lifting the chair into a vehicle. Charging can be performed through either the joystick or directly from the battery using the included off-board charger.
With an overall width of only 24 inches and a turning radius of just 29.5 inches, the Cricket LT remains easy to maneuver through homes, restaurants, medical offices, and other confined spaces.

Pros & Cons
Pros: The Cricket LT is one of the lightest folding power wheelchairs available, making transportation exceptionally easy. It comes standard with premium features including a gel cushion, cup holder, and airline-approved lithium battery, offering outstanding value for the price. We were also pleasantly surprised by how confidently it handled grass, gravel, and other imperfect terrain during testing.
Cons: The Cricket LT is still a travel power wheelchair, so it isn't intended for demanding off-road use. It doesn't offer suspension, reclining seating, seat elevation, or advanced seating adjustments. Users who need maximum outdoor capability or extensive seating customization should consider a full-size power wheelchair instead.
