Power Wheelchair Lifts For Cars, Trucks, SUV's & More
Vehicle platform lifts for power wheelchairs are very durable and very convenient. Most of the lifts we carry can automatically fold up when they're not in use to save space and all of them lift up and down automatically to load and transport your power wheelchair. These products are often referred to as hitch lifts for power wheelchairs and most of them are made by Harmar - the leader of vehicle lift manufacturing since 1998. Below is a demonstration video of a power wheelchair hitchlift in action. Be sure to call or chat with a sales representative to check the compatibility of your mobility device and the vehicle you have.
How to Choose The Right Vehicle Lift for Your Power Wheelchair
Before purchasing a lift, you should always check the compatibility tool first to see what lift is compatible with your vehicle and electric wheelchair model. We recommend speaking with our sales representatives too because the compatibility tool is not always updated with the latest products. There are a few things that you will need to know before shopping for any type of vehicle lift for a power wheelchair which are listed below:
- Your Vehicle Make (i.e. Ford, Chevy, Volkswagen)
- Your Vehicle Model (i.e. Explorer, Trailblazer, Touareg
- Your Vehicle's Year
- Your Vehicle's Tounge Weight
- Your Vehicle's Hitch Height & Hitch Diameter
- Your Power Wheelchair Brand (i.e. Drive Medical, Pride Mobility, Merits Health)
- Your Power Wheelchair Model (i.e. Jazzy Air, Titan AXS, P326D)
If you have all of the information above, it will ensure that we can find a lift and hitch adapter that will work with your setup. Some vehicles have hitch diameters that are bigger than others, and some vehicles have hitch heights that are taller than others. For our team to identify which hitch adapter will be needed for your lift to work properly, we will need to know the information listed above. If you are having a hard time finding this information do not worry, our sales representatives can help you find them.
What to Expect When Buying a Lift
If you're buying a lift for the first time there are a few things you should know. First, these lifts require power from your vehicle's battery to operate but most offer a dedicated battery pack option as an upgrade. Secondly, many of the lifts we offer also have a swing-away feature which allows the platform to swing out of the way when it's folded up. This creates access to the trunk of the vehicle that otherwise might not be possible with the lift folded up. Below is an image example of the swing-away feature with the lift fully extended and out of the way of the trunk.
One important factor to consider is the installation of the lift you purchase. These lift systems require professional installation and Harmar offers an installation service on a nationwide scale. You may select self-installation if you choose to find your own installer or local mechanic who can install the lift for you. We strongly recommend using Harmar's installation service to ensure that you get a professional installation.
