GB120 Key Switch Continuity Testing
This guide explains how to perform continuity testing on the key switch used in the Golden Technologies BuzzAround Carry-On GB120 mobility scooter. Key switch continuity testing can help identify worn contacts, internal switch failures, broken wiring, or open circuits that may prevent the scooter from powering on properly.
The key switch is responsible for supplying power to the scooter's electrical system when turned to the ON position. If the switch fails to complete the circuit, the scooter may display no signs of power even when the battery pack is fully charged.
Tools Required
- Digital Multi-Meter
- Phillips Screwdriver
- 3mm Allen Wrench
Before You Begin
- Turn the scooter off.
- Remove the battery pack.
- Access the dash assembly and key switch.
- Disconnect the key switch connector if required.
- Never perform continuity testing on a powered circuit.
- Set the multi-meter to Continuity Mode or Resistance (Ω).
Expected Test Results
- Key ON Position: Continuity should be present across the switch terminals.
- Key OFF Position: Continuity should not be present.

Key Switch Continuity Testing Procedure

- Step 8: Verify continuity is present only when the switch is in the ON position.

Interpreting Test Results
Continuity Present in ON Position Only
The key switch is likely functioning properly and supplying power when activated.
No Continuity in ON Position
A lack of continuity with the switch turned on may indicate:
- Failed key switch contacts
- Internal switch damage
- Broken switch terminals
- Damaged switch wiring
Continuity Present in Both Positions
If continuity remains present in both the ON and OFF positions, the switch may be internally shorted and require replacement.
Intermittent Continuity
If continuity appears and disappears while operating the key switch, worn internal contacts may be preventing reliable operation.
