3 Wheel Mobility Scooters Make Sharper Turns

Many customers ask us do 3-wheel mobility scooters have a better turning radius. - The answer is an emphatic "YES, they do". We typically recommend 3-wheel disability scooters because they can take tight turns and generally have a much smaller turning radius (when compared to a 4-wheel option). This makes navigating the inside of a home or any area with tight spaces easier.

There are several types of 3-wheel mobility scooters that you can search through, for example, we have travel mobility scooters with 3 wheels and we also have full-sized mobility scooters with three wheels.  On this page, you'll find the complete section of three-wheeled scooters with filter options that can be used to narrow down your search. Simply click on one of the drop-down boxes shown above the list of products to open up filter options.

3 Wheel VS 4 Wheel Mobility Scooters

There are pros and cons to each option, and each can be suitable for a user depending on several factors. One of the main reasons why a 4-wheel option would be selected over a 3-wheel is simply because it is a bit more stable when taking turns. This is generally only the case when a user is exceeding the maximum weight capacity or extremely close to reaching the maximum weight capacity. If the user is too heavy, the top-weight ratio compared to the scooter is bound to tip over when taking a sharp turn at high speed. This is why you must read the user manual and safety sheet before using your scooter. It's also advised that you always slow down for turns regardless of if you're near the weight capacity limit in weight or not. Safety should always be your #1 priority no matter which type of mobility scooter you purchase.
