Pride Passport Battery Issues

Many customers call and ask why the battery for their Passport Power Wheelchair is no longer working. This seems to be the case for many customers even though they are certain they are charging the battery as instructed.

Typically, this is something that is caused when the customer removes the battery from the unit when it’s not being used.

The battery should work fine if they turn the power switch located on the battery to the “off position” when they are not using it.

The Passport and other models like the Transport AF 4 wheel, the Yoga, the Go-Go Es2, and a few other models have a power switch on the battery itself. Models that have a power switch require that the power switch is in the “off position” in order to prevent the battery from draining. Especially if you plan on storing the unit for more than a day or two. If the power switch is still in the “on” position, your battery will slowly drain. Once it drains too low, the battery is toast.
