Should I be worried about lithium battery catching fire?

Owners of mobility devices that have lithium batteries often ask if they should be worried about lithium battery fires, or if they need to do some measure to prevent it. Or if they need to get a fire blanket to contain it if it happens.

We can’t say no to getting a fire blanket since it is always a good preventive measure.

To start with, what we sell are LifePo4 batteries and they are very safe. We have not had one scenario where a LifePo4 battery caught fire. In the old days, lithium batteries were made with Lithium Ion chemistry, which is what was prone to catching fire. These are not made with Lithium Ion, they are made with Lithium Iron Phosphate.

To fully maximize your batteries, proper battery care and maintenance is also a must.
