What is turning radius?

This is one of the most common questions we encounter. What is a turning radius and what do you need to know about it? The measurement of space needed to make a turn or a U-turn is the turning radius. You’ll see different turning radius on each specification of our mobility scooters and power wheelchairs. The lower the turning radius, the sharpest the turn can a mobility product make. You’ll probably need it when you frequently have to go through tight spaces or curves.

For mobility scooters, 3-wheel scooters can make sharper turns than 4-wheel mobility scooters. However, zero turn mobility scooters are an exception. the “Jazzy Zero Turn” mobility scooter which has a dual motor system that allows the unit’s rear wheels to work independently. This feature allows the user to turn with a radius that is unmatched, subsequently earning the name the “Zero Turn” Jazzy scooter.
