What is a ground clearance?

What is ground clearance and why does it matter? The space between the ground and the ceiling of the bottom part of the scooter (where your feet go) is what we call ground clearance. It is an important factor to know if a scooter is going to handle well on grass, dirt, or curbs.

While some scooters are not designed to go on grass full-time, having a good ground clearance will at least give you peace of mind when the scooter needs to go on grass. Keep in mind that there are also other factors that you need to consider if a scooter can handle grass well.

Here’s a video of one of our grass tests and you will see that the ground clearance of a scooter plays an important factor in passing the grass test.
