Can I take a heavy duty mobility scooter/power wheelchair on an airplane?

There are many travel-friendly scooters or power wheelchairs you can get and they are the best travel companion when you need to ride an airplane. This time, people with heavy-duty mobility devices ask us questions like “Can I take my heavy-duty scooter on an airplane travel?”, “What is the process?”, or “Do I need to prove that it’s a mobility device?”

As long as it is a Class 2 medical device, they have to accept the scooter as a gate-checked item as we also mentioned in our other article here. In addition, there are no restrictions to models with Sealed Lead Acid batteries so it’s easier compared to power wheelchairs or mobility scooters with lithium batteries.
