How to Make a Pride Mobility Go-Go Scooter Faster

By far, one of the most frequently asked questions we hear is: how do I make my Pride Mobility Go-Go scooter faster?

The most popularly used mobility scooters are from the Go-Go series by Pride Mobility. They are dependable, high-quality travel scooters, but Go-Go users commonly complain about the scooters’ low top speed of 5 mph. So, how exactly can you make them go faster?

Well, the easiest method is just to add some rockets……… (just kidding)

⚠️DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME, FOR ENTERTAINMENT PURPOSES ONLY⚠️

All jokes aside, the Pride Mobility Go-Go scooters do not contain a limiter. Therefore, there is no possible way to disable/alter the limiter to make them go faster. The only way to actually MODIFY the scooter itself is to buy a bigger, and oftentimes, very expensive motor. Then you would have to modify the frame, which involves welding and buying bigger tires.

Now, if you are mechanically inclined and this (very involved) project sounds like fun, by all means, go for it! However, for the majority of users, it is impractical or even impossible to do, not to mention quite costly.

The best solution is just to buy a faster scooter. Whether you want to replace your slow scooter, or you are a first-time buyer that has the need for speed, we can help you find the right one. In this post, we are going to suggest a few brands that offer faster scooter speeds than the commonly-known Go-Gos.

Pride Mobility

Pride Mobility, the manufacturer of the Go-Go scooters, makes different models that boast the same high-quality production while avoiding those dreadful, leisurely speeds.

1. Victory LX Sport

The Victory LX Sport 4-Wheel mobility scooter is the smallest scooter on this list, but it is considered a heavy-duty mobility scooter. Its top speed is 8 mph, which is a pretty good increase from the Go-Gos. It also has a travel distance of 13-20 miles and a weight capacity of 400 pounds. You can see the full description/specifications of the Victory LX Sport here.

2. Raptor

The Raptor 3-Wheel heavy-duty mobility scooter is the second recommendation from Pride Mobility. This scooter is definitely a fan favorite, with a top speed of 14 miles per hour! It has a 400-pound weight capacity and can travel up to 19 miles at full speed, and up to 31 miles at low speed. The Raptor has multiple top-tier features such as full suspension, LED lighting, and much more. You can see the full description/specifications of the Raptor here.

E-Wheels

The majority of the E-Wheels models we offer are able to fulfill that need for speed. With the exception of their travel scooters, the rest of our E-Wheels scooters range from 12 to 18 miles per hour! We’ll use two of their popular models, the EW-36 and the EW-46, for example.

3. EW-36

The EW-36 is a 3-Wheel, heavy-duty mobility scooter. It has a top speed of 18 miles per hour, which is the highest on our list. The EW-36 has a travel range of up to 45 miles and a weight capacity of 350 pounds. It also has some cool technological features; like remote start and an alarm system. You can see the full description/specifications of the EW-36 here.

4. EW-46

The EW-46 is a 4-Wheel, heavy-duty mobility scooter with a top speed of 13 miles per hour. It can travel up to 35 miles on a single charge and has a weight capacity of 400 pounds. Another common complaint of Go-Go users is that their scooter cannot sufficiently travel up/down ramps and inclines. The EW-46 is able to handle inclines of up to 12 degrees! You can see the full description/specifications of the EW-46 here.

Afikim Electric Vehicles

Afikim is known for their high-performing heavy-duty outdoor scooters. Every single one of their five models is able to beat the 5 mph Go-Go speeds. For this post, we will use their two top-selling models, the C3 and the S4.

5. C3

The Afikim C3 is a 3-Wheel heavy-duty mobility scooter with a top speed of 10 miles per hour. Its standard travel range is between 25-35 miles, but with our exclusive Afikim lithium battery upgrades you could travel up to 100 miles per charge. The C3’s weight capacity is 300 pounds, and it is stocked with a full suspension and a 9-degree maximum climbing angle. You can see the full description/specifications of the C3 here.

6. S4

The Afikim S4 is a 4-Wheel heavy-duty mobility scooter and larger than the aforementioned C3 model. It has a top speed of 10 mph with the standard motor and 12 mph with the upgraded motor. The S4 has a travel range of 28 to 35 miles, but like the C3, Mobility Direct and Dakota Lithium can upgrade your batteries to go up to 100 miles. It has a 500-pound weight capacity and with the upgraded suspension can hold up to 600 pounds. You can see the full description/specifications of the S4 here.

Final Thoughts

Although the Pride Go-Go travel scooters are reliable and manufactured with quality, we understand it can be frustrating to be limited to 5 miles per hour or less. If you are looking to upgrade your turtle-speed scooter or you want to avoid investing in one, the six scooters on this list are much faster options.
