Mobility Scooters Direct will Attend Medtrade 2019

For the 3rd consecutive year, Mobility Scooters Direct will attend Medtrade which is the most coveted trade show in our industry. This is an exciting trade show as we are able to see what is new in the industry, newly released products, prototypes, and more! Our team will also meet with all of our manufacturer representatives to ensure our strong relationships continue to thrive.

If you are curious who typically attends Medtrade you can find a list from their website here. We’re excited to see both historical exhibitors as well as new exhibitors. Seeing what is new in the industry allows Mobility Scooters Direct to stay relevant and offer our ever-growing audience the latest and greatest in technology to assist with their independence. Each year Medtrade seems to have more and more attendees. For reference, the picture to the left was taken in 2016!

What Do We Think We Will See at Medtrade 2019?

Our team believes we’ll continue to see manufacturers strive for longer travel ranges, more safety features, and lighter weights. If anything can continue to be improved upon in our industry, it is the weight of the folding mobility scooters. Many currently weigh around 50 lbs which is very heavy. Not many people can lift a 50 lb scooter into a trunk when they have some medical ailments which require its use.

Within a couple of years, we’re hoping this weight can be cut to around 25 to 35 lbs which is much more feasible than what is currently available. Battery technology has made fantastic advancements since the lead acid days. Rather than a battery weighing 30+lbs some batteries now weight 7 lbs! This is what we are hoping happens to the folding and travel mobility scooter frames.
