Hello, I just replaced the batteries in my pack with 2 new 12V-15AH deep cycle batteries. I confirmed with a voltmeter they are fully charged and checked all the fuses. When I start the scooter it shows a full charge but the minute I get going it goes down to only one green light or into the red, and goes super slow. I’ve tried the reset button and moving the free wheel lever back and forth with no change. I suspect the throttle pot, but I’m not a mechanic. I’m not sure how changing batteries could cause this issue, as it was not doing it before they were changed, but they were 5 yrs old and it was time as my distance was being impacted.
Anyone have experience with this issue that can point me to other possible causes it would be most appreciated. It is out of warranty. Thanks in advance
Hello, it appears you may have a charging issue, or the batteries
are not working correctly. You mentioned you tested them with a voltmeter.
How many volts did you get on each battery? You may want to check the
connection points where the scooter comes apart. If there is rust or any
sort of material that is causing a bad connection, this can surely reduce
the power of your scooter. I would strongly suggest that you take the scooter apart and
inspect the connector where the front half and the rear half join together.
If your voltage is correct and the connectors are clean, I would suspect
that either your transaxle (motor) is failing. There can be many variables
as to the cause of this issue, I would suggest having the scooter looked at
by a professional.- This reply was modified 5 years ago by Andrew Fatalo.
