Enclosed mobility scooter?

Hello, all!

I’m brand new to the mobility scooter forum and like many others before me, I’ve got questions. I was wondering if anyone would be able to tell me or let me know how I could find out legal classifications as to what determines a mobility scooter from say an electric assisted moped. I’m trying to look into the idea of an enclosed mobility scooter, but living in California, I’m concerned about the legalities of where I can operate such a device. Any information is greatly appreciated.
