I purchased a used extended battery case for my wife’s Pride Go-Go Elite Traveler Scooter, to increase the batteries capacity. After installing a brand new set of batteries 12V 18AH (Brand: UPG) and making sure the batteries won’t move at all, the scooter recognizes the battery pack and works intermittently. While is in use, the scooter stops by itself and starts beeping 9 times or sometimes, simply stops and won’t move (without alarm/beeping); After turning OFF the scooter (to reset the alarm condition) and removing and replacing the battery pack, the alarm goes away (no beeping), the power level indicator is ON, but the scooter still won’t move; Randomly, it will start working again. I assume there must be a loose contact/pin on the battery pack that is causing this failure. If I install the battery pack that came with the scooter (the small one, with 2 12V 12AH batteries) the scooter works perfectly and it never stops or shows any alarm condition. Thus, I’m ruling out the scooter. Any pointer or specific test you can suggest I should do to the battery pack?? Thanks in advance
You need to confirm that the wiring is done correctly or else it will give you issues. Check out the video below to see how the wiring should be setup. Also, I would check for any lose connections at the power block and the cables that come from and to the power block. Many times there is a connector that is loose or a wire that is dislodged from the connector somewhere. I’ll include a second video that shows you how to tare down a gogo scooter.
