Debug Fixed Leg-Rest Beach Wheelchair
DeBug Fixed by Debug Mobility Products
Debug Mobility Products is a company that manufactures beach-friednly wheelchairs like the one you see on this page. All of their products are made right here in the USA. The quality of the Debug Fixed cannot be matched by overseas companies who try to replicate this design. The DeBug Fixed waterproof wheelchair is the entry-level model because it does not have features such as tilt or leg rests. However, do not that dissuade you from considering this product. This fixed frame all-terrain wheelchair can go to more places than just the typical beach. We will review other use cases of the DeBug Fixed beach wheelchair. These chairs are custom made upon order and can support up to 400 lbs if you upgrade to the Husky version which includes an extra 49 cm wheel in front plus some extra reinforcements.
The first thing you will notice when looking at the DeBug Fixed beach wheelchair will be the large tires. They almost look too big! However, this is intentional. The larger the surface area of the tires which contact the ground the better traction you will have in traditionally hard to manage surfaces. This includes beaches, snow, loose gravel, forest trails, and more! Essentially, any place where a traditional wheelchair would typically lose its traction is where this unit would be helpful. However, keep in mind surfaces like ice are extremely difficult to navigate so use caution and always follow the user manual of each product for safe operation.
DeBug Fixed Beach Wheelchair Features
Becaues the primary use case of the DeBug fixed is for beaches which have plenty of salt floating around in the air, it is critical that any beach wheelchairs is built to last. The first defense against rust is a high-quality metal that can handle salt water oxidation. This unit uses 316 L stainless steel. Unless you are familiar with metals, you would probably not know that this metal is also referred to as "marine metal". The beauty of this type of metal is that it is resistant to certain interactions. Mainly corrosion resistance. It is hard to break the laws of physics and this is why we are so confident in this product. Another factor is bushings. If sand were to enter the bushings you would have a problem. This has also been thought of and Delrin bushings are used for many reasons. In case you skipped out on your automotive class, Delrin is a thermoplastic known as polyoxymethylene. It is widely considered better than rubber and plastic bushings.
Comfort is critical. After all, you are likely going to the beach as a vacation and need to really enjoy your time out on the sand enjoying the beautiful views, the smell of the ocean, and the sound of the waves crashing. If you cannot get your legs in a comfortable position then you will very quickly not be enjoying your stay and likely want to leave. Getting your legs in the proper position is easier than ever with the adjustable telescopic leg rest. Whether you like your legs bent more or to hang lower, the choice is yours. There are other beach wheelchairs we list on our website if you are looking for other comfort features not found on this model.
The pictures will make this unit look very big. Almost big to the point where wouldn't be able to go anywhere that has a door. This is not the case. So if you choose to go grab a bite to eat at a restaurant that is on a pier or adjacent to the beach you can fit right through the door despite the large tires. Therefore, this beach wheelchair is good to go through any ADA compliant doorway.
The last noteworthy feature would be the actual material. Phifertex is the material which is used as the fabric. Since there will massive amounts of humidity in the air and a high likelihood of the wheelchair getting wet this material was used. This material resists stretching which great. If it were to stretch the chair would become uncomfortable rather quickly. The material will also resist mildew and bacteria which is really important. Lastly, cracking and UV damage from the sun is resisted as well. If you spill something do not worry as it is machine-washable.
